But there is nothing on the ballot that specifially states WHERE the jail should be. Why not vote yes, hope that your lawsuit allows you to change locations, and then we still get a jail?

The ballot isssue IS for the jail to be built at this site. Billy Knowles, the jail consultant/architect, specifically stated at a Jail Steering Committee meeting, that moving the jail to another site would increase the costs. And although he didn't give a dollar figure, he indicated it would be significant. If the lawsuit wins then how will those extra costs be funded? The half-cent sales tax will either have to be extended, or the County will have to get an ADDITIONAL tax passed.

Of course, you know this is all a moot point if the lawsuit does NOT succeed. In that case, the County will simply go ahead and build here, and all is well with their world.

Yes, The County has alredy purchased the site for $37,000 per acre!! Isn't it interesting they would pay that much of our tax dollars before the proposal has passed.
Yes, the ballot is SITE SPECIFIC! The County is asking taxpayers to reinburse the County $200,000 for the site...
Also for "anonymous". Do you realize if it passes that without the site they have chosen it could end up in your backyard?? Think again before you vote "yes".
The County could've spent our tax dollars for raw farm land at a fraction of the price ($3,000-5,000) an acre? Maybe you ought to pay the $200,000 out of your own pocket!

Why not force the county to reduce the price tag before we vote YES? If we vote yes now, it will be sending a message to the county that we AGREE with how they have mishandled the money and that we agree with the overpriced jail.

They have time to do some reducing considering the site is going to be held up in a court battle anyway.
